Our sewing project aimed to empower women and girls in the community to learn important life skills, which they can take through into the rest of their lives.
This project has proved to be, and continues to be, highly impactful within the community with participants finding opportunities for creating their own business.
From complete beginners to skilled sewers, the course culminated with a wonderful fashion show!
Our fabulous sewing project attendees were absolutely joyful to see each week. There were lots of laughs and lots of learning! It was wonderful to see so many new skills being shared and learned and, here at Pearls of Cheshire, we couldn't wait to see what they would create next!
Two of our participants have even gone on to create their own small businesses using the skills they learned here.
"A very big thank you to the coordinators of Pearls of Cheshire and the management team who made this possible for us. Am indeed grateful for empowering us and most especially for the sewing machine that came as a surprise, now that I can sew my own clothes, I’m planning to start a small business making and selling children’s pyjamas. Long live Pearls of Cheshire and long live all of us. Cheers."

"Sewing project: the sewing classes are not only a time for learning skills, I have found it to be a time where we have shared experiences of our day-to-day activities/family and moreso how to navigate the hardship in the UK . We have a laugh, share local knowledge, cheer each other up - its definitely a safe space of sharing, we bring our kids along as well."
